File this piece of news under things that make you go hmmmm: it seems thatBryce Dallas Howard was approached to star in the "Twilight Saga" long before she was brought on to replace Rachelle Lefevre as the villanious vampire Victoria in "Eclipse."
Last night at the Teen Choice Awards, "Twilight" director Catherine Hardwicke spoke out to Just Jared about the controversial switcharoo and spilled an interesting fact: "I know we originally asked Bryce Dallas Howard to do the first movie but she thought it was too small a part at that time."
Of the recasting of her Victoria, Catherine also said, "Of course I cast [Rachelle], so I wish [Summit Entertainment] could have worked out something. I wasn’t involved in the negotiations, so I don’t know the details.”
"Twilight" screenwriter, Melissa Rosenberg also recently weighed in on the Rachelle-BDH situation saying, "It was a shame, but I think Rachelle will go on to do brilliant things. I just love her. I am sure Bryce will be great."
The cast of the third chapter in the vampire Saga just migrated to Vancouver (and took a brief pause to attend last night's Teen Choice) to begin shooting the film, which is set to be released on June 30, 2010.
We won't be able to see if Bryce's acting chops match up to Rachelle's fierceness until then, but does it make you feel more at ease to know that BDH could've played Victoria all along? Share your opinions below!
