Over the past week, many of you spoke out in support of "Harry Potter" Star Tom Felton to get the part of Riley in the third "Twilight Saga" film "Eclipse." (Yes, we even noticed there was a petition for the cause!) But now, it seems your "Harry-Potter"-meets-"Twilight" dreams (er, second-time around dreams, seeing as how Robert Pattinson was a member of Hogwarts before Forks) have been crushed.
According to The Hollywood Reporter's Risky Business blog, a virtually unknown actor from Down Under named Xavier Samuel will be stepping into the shoes of the attractive newborn vampire — and member of Victoria's (Rachelle Lefevre) army — who is out to get Bella (Kristen Stewart) in "Eclipse."
After a glance at Xavier's IMDB profile, we've got a few key points to bring you about his acting past: all of his credits include roles in Australian projects like "The Loved Ones" (which contrary to its title was a horror film) and "Newcastle" (a surfing flick in which Xavier's Fergus apparently sported purple hair streaks and nail polish). His most recent role listed is the upcoming "Road Train," a sci-fi thriller about a group of teens who have a "driverless" train after them. Hey, at least it seems like the has a thing for the supernatural!
With "Eclipse" getting ready to begin production on August 17, droves of "New Moon" fans heading to Comic Con next week (don't worry folks: Hollywood Crush will have you covered if you can't make it!), TwiCon the week after and (finally!) a second "New Moon" trailer premiering when "Bandslam" hits theaters on August 14, the "Twilight" nation is about to start, well, taking over the world!
What do you think about the casting of Xavier as Riley? Are you disappointed it's not Tom Felton?
