Disney's newest comedy just got serious. Serious star power, that is. "You Again," a comedy flick starring the multi-faceted Kristen Bell — she's been a supervillain, a teenage spy and a snobby actress, after all! — has just picked up a whole slew of new actors to join the cast.
The Hollywood Reporter has the scoop that Kristen will be joined in the film by the likes of Jamie Lee Curtis, Kristin Chenoweth, Odette Yustman ("The Unborn," "October Road"), Betty White and Victor Garber, as well as the previously cast Sigourney Weaver. Andy Fickman will direct the movie.
According to THR, the story line focuses "on a woman (Bell) who finds out that her brother is planning to marry the girl who made her high school years a living hell and tries to convince him that his fiancée is not the nice girl she pretends to be."
Odette will portray the aforementioned nemesis, while Victor and Jamie Lee play Kristen's parents. White will star as Kristen's grandmother, Sigourney as her wealthy aunt and Chenoweth as a "wedding extraordinator."
For many, the pairings of some of these actors is like a geek-dream-come-true, though not under the exact circumstances they'd expect. Victor, Sigourney and Jamie Lee have all previously established themselves as science-fiction and horror icons, having starred in "Alias," "Aliens" and "Halloween," respectively. We have a hunch that they'll steer clear of nefarious monsters for this Disney film, however.
How do you like the cast for "You Again"? Do you think they'll make for a funny film, or will you likely pass on this one?
