EXCLUSIVE clip: 'Shopaholic' DVD Bonus Feature With Costume Designer Pat Field

By Haley Murphy

Shoppers of the world BEWARE! “Confessions of a Shopaholic” comes out on DVD today, and we bet that fashionistas everywhere are dying to get their hands on this classic label-savvy movie! The movie follows a 25-year-old Manhattanite (Isla Fisher), who has a horrible shopping addiction that begins to ruin her life. After some drama, several AMAZING outfits and a classic Hollywood romance, she attempts to pay off her debt. Below, check out an exclusive clip from the DVD's bonus features, in which costume mistress extraordinaire Patricia Field explains how she gave Isla such an over-the-top, yet still polished look.

In the bonus, the fiery designer, who also worked on “Sex and the City” and “The Devil Wears Prada,” discusses her process for how she decided what Isla would wear. She says she brought in clothes from all over the world to make one giant "store" where she could "shop" for whatever looks she needed.

To get the perfect outfit for each scene in the movie, the costumer would look over the script and through a “creative collaborative process,” every outfit was magically pieced together! When making her unique fashion choices, Pat first dressed mannequins to get a rough idea of how the clothes would look onscreen. Then, after brainstorming and sketching at her desk — with her cute fluffy puppy on hand — Isla would eventually be fitted for a dress rehearsal. Those who worked with the stylist on the movie attributed her success as a costume designer to her belief that "God is in the details."

What outfit in “Confessions of a Shopaholic” would you die to have? Will you be buying the DVD?
