As part of the Class of '09 Week festivities at MTV News, we've already doled out superlatives to a few of our "Twilight" faves, including Robert Pattinson, who scored "Picture Perfect" (obviously) and Kristen Stewart, whose Golden Popcorn-fumbling acceptance speech at the MTV Movie Awards sealed her fate as "Biggest Klutz." So it's only fair that we show a little love to the lady who started it all: "Twilight" author Stephenie Meyer.
With a big smile and even bigger hair, the dazzling class of '92 grad posed for this senior-year portrait at Chaparral High School in Scottsdale, Arizona. Stephenie is just one of our favorite celebs caught in their early years in our yearbook pic collection.
Though she may be a best-selling author now, Stephenie isn't shy about revealing her high school status as, well, a bit of a nerd. "In high school, I was a mousy, A-track wall-flower," Meyer recalled on her Web site. "I had a lot of incredible girlfriends, but I wasn't much sought after by the Y chromosomes, if you know what I mean."
That all changed when Meyer went away to college and had her own Bella-arriving-in-Forks moment. "Then I went to college in Provo, Utah. Let me tell you, my stock went through the roof. See, beauty is a lot more subjective than you might think. In Scottsdale, surrounded by Barbies, I was about a five. In Provo, surrounded by normal people, I was more like an eight. I had dates every weekend with lots of really pretty and intelligent boys (some of whose names end up in my books)."
