Drake And OVO Release Houston Appreciation Weekend Tees

Let's appreciate Houston, y'all.

Even though Drake is from Toronto—a fact we couldn't forget if we tried—he's shining the light on H-town this weekend with Houston Appreciation Weekend. And while Beyonce seems like a likelier host candidate for this kind of celebration considering it's (a) her hometown and (b) the inspiration behind her greatest unreleased song (IMHO) "Bow Down/I Been On," Drake has made the social centerpiece of this thing a pool party, which trumps all weirdness/confusion/side-eye I might have been harboring. I mean, who doesn't love a pool party? Anyway, we're guessing Bey would be proud of Drake's initiative. Also, there's merch.

More appreciation.

Drake's label and lifestyle blog October's Very Own came up with some special gear for HAW that honors some of Texas' most beloved rappers. There's a T-shirt with D.J. Screw who created the chopped 'n' screwed DJ technique that's still used today by guys like A$AP Rocky. Another T-shirt shows James Prince, CEO of the local Rap-A-Lot Records, who signed Geto Boys, Bun B, and Devin the Dude, among others, with the universal quote, "I was born at night, but not last night." Late UGK member Pimp C—who gets a shoutout in Bey's "I Been On"—graces two other tees. OVO also rolled out some more standard merch including a snapback with their owl logo and tees for HAW.

If you're lucky enough to be in Houston this weekend, look for Drake's pop up shop at Premium Goods.
