If you're a fan of Orange Is the New Black, then your past week has probably been spent binge-watching season two. For those of you who prefer to watch the Netflix drama at a more leisurely pace (huh?), I promise not to spoil the heartbreakingly beautiful plotlines that lie ahead of you. I will simply say this: You are in for a treat.

OITNB's greatest strength is its ability to make viewers feel for each individual character through a mixture of subtle moments and slowly revealed backstories—much the way you get to know people in real life. And some of those best moments just so happen to center around beauty and fashion.

It might seem like a superficial approach to a supposedly gritty television show, but the scenes where Sophia (Laverne Cox) pampers her salon "patrons" or Lorna (Yael Stone) spends her mornings getting pretty only add to the complex nature of these characters. Because even though they throw pies and crack ribs in the courtyard, they can still remember the excitement of trying on a beautiful new dress. And THAT'S how you write female characters, my friends.

I went ahead and took note of all the amazing style and beauty moments I noticed while watching season two to either get you excited for your remaining episodes or to tide you over until season three. *SIGH* Is it 2015 yet?

1. LOLLY'S VASELINE

It's hard to smuggle anything onto an airplane, let alone when you are patted down and in handcuffs. But Lolly (Lori Petty), the friendly inmate Piper (Taylor Schilling) is seated beside, keeps a secret stash of Vaseline in her ear cartilage to combat dry skin. She even offers some of her "ear glob" to the other passengers, which is just the epitome of friendship.

2. PLAYING DRESS-UP

The second episode, "Looks Blue, Tastes Red," is all about the inmates participating in a mock job fair to hone their interview skills. The ladies get to sort through racks of clothes to pick their interview outfits, and the scene plays out like a group of friends going shopping together. The part where the inmates join forces to zip up Sophia's tight dress is particularly wonderful.

3. PROFESSIONAL ATTIRE

Aside from the delight of trying on new clothes, this episode actually contains some helpful lessons about dressing for the workplace: Dress for your body type and skin tone, wear dark stockings for polished appearance, and DON'T show up for an interview in a cocktail dress. But the best part of this scene (and episode in general) is witnessing how Taystee (Danielle Brooks) is pretty much the smartest person in the universe. This girl is really good on her feet.

4. #FREETHENIPPLE

We all know the importance of wearing the right size bra and properly fitted clothes, but it's hard to follow those rules when you are a nursing mother whose husband just left to explore Alaska. So, when Larry (Jason Biggs) points out Polly's (Maria Dizzia) obvious nip slip, she's pretty much like, "IDGAF." Rihanna and Scout and Grace would SO approve.

5. BABY CRAZY EYES' HAIR

During Suzanne/Crazy Eyes' (Uzo Aduba) backstory flashbacks, we see her in the hospital with her adoptive parents and new baby sister. When she starts to throw a fit, one of the nurses calms her down by giving her a new hairstyle. Not only do we get to witness the birth of Suzanne's bantu knots, but this entire scene reveals SO much about her character—her continuously strange imagination, her loving but oblivious mother, and the clear absence of a black female role model.

6. ADULT CRAZY EYES' HAIR

That flashback hospital scene is essential to understand the beginnings of her relationship with Vee, aka THE DEVIL (Lorraine Toussaint). Suzanne finally finds a mother figure, and the image of Vee's tender hands working on Suzanne's hair beautifully brings her storyline full circle. BRB, CRYING 4EVER.

7. RED'S INTIMIDATING MAKEOVER

Vee's presence shakes up Litchfield in an insane way, perhaps most so for Red (Kate Mulgrew). When Red sees Vee for the first time, she realizes that she's going to need to look intimidatingly awesome for their next encounter. So she goes to Sophia's salon with a simple request: "I want to look fierce." Never underestimate the power of red nails and a fresh dye job.

8. PENNSATUCKY'S NEW TEETH

Pennsatucky (Taryn Manning) didn't exactly have a great set of chompers in season one, and that was BEFORE Piper beat her into toothless oblivion. The character gets a fresh set of teeth in season two, but they don't exactly have the desired effect. First of all, none of her friends even notice/care. And then Pennsatucky's renewed confidence completely alienates her, and she's officially dethroned as the laundry room leader.

9. MORELLO'S BEAUTY HACKS

Lorna Morello always looks like a beautiful pin-up model, which I assume is no easy feat in lipstick-banned prison. How does she do it? In the opening scene of episode four, "A Whole Other Hole," we get a wonderfully revealing montage of Lorna's hack-filled beauty routine. She uses toilet paper to set her pin curls, scrapes the bottom of lipstick tubes with her fingernails, and later admits to using instant coffee as brown eyeshadow. It's no wonder Piper assigned her a beauty column in the prison newsletter.

10. PATCHWORK PLATFORM PRADAS

During Lorna's backstory, it is revealed that she used to run a mail scam. She would order clothes, claim they never came, and then get full refunds. Essentially, she wore designer duds every day without paying a dime. We clearly don't condone this sort of criminal activity (seriously, don't do it), but we gotta admit—those patchwork platform Pradas are FIERCE.

11. ABSTRACT NAIL ART

If you had to pick one reason to watch OITNB, it should be to observe the friendship between Taystee and Poussey (Samira Wiley). There's a precious moment between the two friends in "A Whole Other Whole" in which Poussey paints Taystee's toenails...well, sort of. The pink and blue polish ends up all over Taystee's toes, but as Poussey explains, "It's abstract, yo!" So true.

12. MEMORIES OF CASHMERE

Season 1 of OITNB focused primarily on the way prison turned Piper into a new person. And in Season 2, Piper comes to realize that while she doesn't like the person she's become, she also doesn't really like the person she was BEFORE Litchfield. This is most obvious when she's granted furlough and sees all of her old clothes. She becomes almost disgusted with her former lifestyle—did she really need all that stuff? This is Piper we're talking about though, so she does still get REALLY excited about seeing her cashmere sweater again.

13. BRIDAL BLUES

Sometimes, a veil is just a veil. But other times, it can represent every aspect of a life you'll never have. In Lorna's case, it's the latter. When she sneaks into Christopher's house and puts on his fiance's wedding veil, her happy imagined life flashes before her eyes—just one of 2 billion OITNB moments guaranteed to break your heart.

14. NEW HAIRCUTS

Isn't amazing how a haircut can make you feel like an entirely new person? In a place like Litchfield, where autonomous change is basically impossible, Sophia and her scissors are a godsend. Whether it's Sophia cutting her own hair into a chic lob for her son's first visit or Pennsatucky getting a pixie cut to prepare for the lesbian apocalypse, a new 'do = a new lease on life.
