Learn How To Turn Ellie Goulding’s MTV Movie Awards Performance Outfit Into Nail Art

One of our fave looks from last night’s MTV Movie Awards was, by far, Ellie Goulding’s white-and-gold performance dress. Nail-art designer Miss Ladyfinger showed us how to translate it into a manicure, and now we’re showing you. The circle of life, y’all.

STEP ONE

Paint all of your nails with a coat of Gray Suede. It looks opaque in the bottle, but as you can see, goes on rather sheer.

STEP TWO

Using a nail-art brush with a very thin tip, apply Chameleon to make a curve that follows your cuticle. You want the curve to cross to the other side about halfway down your nail. With the same color, paint two more lines that branch off from the curve. Repeat that process on the other side of your nail, joining with the line in the middle.

STEP THREE

Using Knockout by Revlon and the same thin brush (even thinner if you have it), define the gold lines.

STEP FOUR

Then, as an homage to the skirt of Ellie’s dress, paint the tips of your nails using Revlon’s Pure Pearl. You can paint two coats to make sure it’s totally opaque, and let dry. You’re done!
