It’s no secret that Ellie Goulding’s style is on point. As a quick scroll through her frequently updated Instagram will tell you, the singer’s fashion sense is the perfect combination of leather pieces, streetwear, and, like, totally elegant gowns. Her performance outfits often pair shorts and crop tops, but she looks equally as comfortable in a floor-length number at more formal events. Cosmopolitan’s spread featuring Ellie totally nails her natural tough-yet-feminine vibe and puts her in pieces we can totally see her wearing IRL.

This peach Gucci dress, for example, shows off some cleavage and leg, and has black accents. It goes perfectly with her always expertly mussed hair—what doesn’t, though?—and would be perfect for, IDK, something like the 2014 MTV Movie Awards. Oh, yeah, she’s performing at the awards on Sunday. Will she wear one of these dresses? She totally should, IMHO!

Ellie has worn dresses and jumpsuits with sheer paneling to a number of events, though none quite as sheer as this bejeweled Blumarine situation. While she may prefer something a little more, um, sturdy for performing, this is so red-carpet Ellie. The Movie Awards do have a red carpet, you know. Just sayin’.

This mesh-paneled, polka-dot Elizabeth and James dress, on the other hand, would be perfect for stage. Pairing the dress with sneakers and a few pieces of jewelry manages to both dress it up and down simultaneously. As her pose suggests, Ellie’s totally comfortable in it, which, really, is all that matters when it comes to clothing. I’m barely comfortable enough in the sweatpants I wear every night to lay upside down. Maybe I should change into a designer dress.

You can read article excerpts and see more photos from the shoot on Cosmopolitan’s website. For more Ellie (in motion!), be sure the watch the Movie Awards on MTV, Sunday, April 13, at 9 p.m. EST.
