Chains on chains.
In January, Nicki Minaj previewed a bunch of looks from her spring collection with Kmart. We noticed several new items, including cropped T-shirts, shorts, and high-rise jeggings. What we didn't notice, until we peeped the full collection on Kmart's website, was how many chain prints Nicki has introduced for spring. It's as if throwback Chanel and Versace gave birth to octuplets made from spandex! Sort of.
Nicki's love for chains and chain prints comes as no surprise, actually. Her Minajesty has worn a Chanel chain belt on many occasions, and a very ornate chain print appeared in the first collection. Now, though, she's amped the print up into multiple iterations and sprinkled them on the majority of the clothes.
Chains on chains.
The sheer number of silhouettes onto which Nicki managed to work this similar print is, TBH, impressive. There are skintight dresses, cropped sweatpants, leotards, and full bodysuits. There's a chain with a huge NM medallion, one with an NM-printed padlock, and one void of locks all together. Careful! Without the identifying emblem, someone may mistake it for Versace! Two labels for the very low price of one.
The chain-print bodysuit that started it all—meaning the second collection—is the most Nicki of them all. Between the cropped jacket that Nicki paired it with IRL and the sheer size of these medallions, everyone will know that bad boy was birthed from Nicki Minaj's brain. We can't wait to see who ends up being bold enough to pull it off next.
You can now check out (and buy!) the rest of Nicki's collection on kmart.com. Clear all the other prints out of your closet. Chains are, and will forever be, according to Nicki Minaj, the only print you need.
