Free Idea: Katy Perry Should Totally Wear CuteCircuit On Her Prismatic World Tour

Call us crazy, but we haven’t stopped thinking about Katy Perry’s Prismatic World Tour since she first announced it back in November. It’s still three months away, but we’re getting increasingly antsy and excited—especially (obviously) concerning all things wardrobe. So you’ve gotta understand the pure joy we felt when we saw CuteCircuit (one of Katy’s favorite designers, NBD) show their Fall 2014 collection at New York Fashion Week.

Katy has worn some of their pieces before—her light-up gown at the 2010 Met Gala and white catsuit at her 2011 American Idol performance were both designed by CuteCircuit. So, when everyone started raving about iPhone-controlled miniskirts and dresses embedded with LED displays this week, Katy was probably like, “YAWWNNN. Tell me something I DON’T know.” (JK, she’s way nicer than that.) Designers Francesca Rosella and Ryan Genz have been doing their futuristic thing since 2004, but now that the brand is *officially* on the fashion radar, we have our fingers and toes crossed that Katy will ask her old friends to provide a few (or more) pieces for Prismatic.

While a lot of CuteCircuit’s new line is totally ready-to-wear and simple (or as simple as you can be while lights flash around your clavicle), we know that Katy is 100% more likely to go for the big-ticket items. Which ones, exactly? We’re getting our hopes up for a few runway pieces in particular:

Katy loves long gowns, and this tri-toned dress is particularly gorgeous. The sweetheart bodice and halter neckline are super flattering, and the monochrome color palette is futuristic and edgy. It also happens to feature a diamond-shaped display of flashing lights on the chest, which will come in handy if there are any sort of Iron Man undertones planned for her set list.

Keeping with the floor-length trend, there’s also this reflective silver dress. From the front, it seems like just another impossibly shiny halter gown (of which I have several in my closet, IDK about you). But then you turn around, and BAM! There’s a line of LEDs going straight down the back of the dress. This and the aforementioned Iron Man dress are more subtle with their lighting displays, so maybe Katy can wear these for her more low-key numbers, aka ballads. (Is “low-key” even in her vocabulary?)

TBH, “ornate” and “flashy” are more likely to appear in Katy Perry’s lexicon. Which brings us to this purple knee-length dress. It’s adorable enough on its own, what with the scalloped hem, metallic T-shirt underlay, and belted accents. But it’s also the most elaborate garment CuteCircuit showed at NYFW, at least in terms of sheer technological prowess. The entire purple part of the dress is basically a wearable marquee. It can display an array of different light patterns, from streaks of red and purple to images akin to a star-studded solar system. If this dress can somehow be made into a full-length bodysuit, it’s pretty much a shoe-in for the Prismatic tour.

Tell us: Which grown-up Judy Jetson ensemble do you like the best? Could you see Katy wearing any of these on stage?
