'The Carrie Diaries' Fashion: What Carrie And Samantha Wore

There are only two episodes left of The Carrie Diaries, which means Friday nights will soon be less fashion- and Sebastian-filled. I am upset about both. Last night's episode featured Carrie making moves at Interview and, as always, looking very stylish while doing so. We spoke to the show's costume designer, Eric Daman, about what Carrie wore.

The show opens with Carrie and Sebastian walking in Washington Square Park and stumbling across a grisly scene: a hawk eating a pigeon. No thanks! Eric gave us major deets on Carrie's coat (the third week a patterned coat opens the show, BTW): "OMG. Are you ready for a real behind-the-scenes secret? Carrie Bradshaw is wearing Blair Waldorf's Chloe coat! Fabulously, I might add. Totally making it her own. I was in love with this faded-floral Chloe coat, and while wrapping Gossip Girl, I just knew Carrie could breathe a second life into it, so I 'borrowed' it from Blair Waldorf's closet! When I read this 'walk and talk in the park' scene between Carrie and Sebastian, it seemed like the ideal moment for this gorgeous coat's second coming. To give it true Carrie Bradshaw appeal, we paired it with a wide-brimmed hat, knee-high Sergio Rossi boots, and Melie Bianco color-blocked bag. Actually, it kinda feels a little Serena-y now that I take a second look! LOL!"

Carrie, feeling rather bold (and manipulated by Bennett), swipes tickets to the ballet and invites Samantha as her date. I'm all for more Samantha on my screen, but I'm even more for all Sebastian on my screen. Carrie, don't you think your BF would've liked the ballet? Well, I'll forgive you because Samantha had on a v. cool dress. Eric told us, "You know when these fashionista BFFs go to a gala for the first time, the glamour has to be spot-on! And so, the pressure was on to find the perfect gown for both of them. I knew I wanted Samantha in something sexy—in tune with her character's '80s-rock edge, but classy too. It was important she look beautiful and strong when she meets her new BF's wife. (UGH!) The Sherri Hill gown she wears was the only one we tried on. The combination of cutouts, sheer studded overlay, and drape were everything I dreamed of for her first black-tie appearance. Carrie's dress was a bit more of a wild card and actually showed up from an editorial shoot just days before we were to shoot the ballet gala! I had seen the Carolina Herrera polka-dot-and-card-suit-print gown in a look book and had my heart set on it! The clock was ticking, but the fashion fairies worked their magic and Carrie was the belle of the ball."
