Our Favorite Makeup Looks From The 2014 Golden Globes

Sure, the gowns (and pants under gowns, right, Emma Watson?) at the 2014 Golden Globes were incredible, but how about the beauty? We’re feeling inspired. Some of our fave ladies stepped up their looks even more with their bold lip colors, shimmery eye shadows, and flawless skin. If you’re looking for a way to make your January beauty game even better, we have four looks from Jennifer Lawrence, Sarah Hyland, Emma Watson, and Lupita Nyong’o for you to try. Check ’em out below!

One of the night’s winners, Jennifer Lawrence, wore a dark plum lip that stood in stark contrast to her white, perhaps-LittleMermaid-inspired gown. While J.Law has gone with even darker lips in the past, this shade is perfect for winter. If you want to dabble in dark lips like Jennifer, you can try a deep, rich bordeaux shade. Wearing a gown is optional, but will definitely make you feel J.Law-level glamorous.

DEM. BROWS. You guys, check out Sarah Hyland’s bold eyebrows! While Sarah has always had some enviable brows, her look at the Golden Globes was stronger than ever. She kept the rest of her makeup totally natural, letting the bold brows do the talking. If Sarah has inspired you to beef up your brows, you can find a loose eyeshadow that matches your eyebrow color and fill your arches in. Be careful, though: too much shadow and you’ll be entering unibrow territory.

Emma Watson wore a coral lip color that closely matched her glamorous apron gown. She opted for matte over glossy and paired the color with full lashes and little else. Brights are not just for spring anymore, and Emma’s look will definitely cheer you up when it’s, like, below freezing out.

In addition to totally 100% KILLIN’ IT in her red Ralph Lauren cape dress, Lupita Nyong’o also showed us how to wear a shimmery, smoky cat eye. Lupita’s liner is thick, starting in the middle of her lid, and wings out slightly just beyond the corner of her eye. On her lids is a gold shadow, which is subtle, a welcome addition to her winged liner.
