Diane von Furstenberg: "The Original Wrapper"
Photo: Harper's Bazaar
Being bookended by two beautiful fashion icons for your first ever photo shoot with Harper's Bazaar is definitely something to smile about (no matter how head-scratchingly incongruous your inclusion in the photo is). Wale does just that as he’s holding up the svelte, high-heeled legs of iconic fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg and international supermodel Bar Rafaeli for the magazine's February 2014 issue. It's the lead image for a piece entitled “The Original Wrapper”—see what they did there? *wink wink nudge nudge*—which commemorates the 40-year anniversary of DVF's timeless wrap dress. As model Rafaeli puts it, the photo is meant to highlight "the wrap and rap combined," and also to give context to that très punny headline. But hey, it’s not every day a rapper graces the pages of Harper’s Bazaar, so fine, if they needed a play on words to do it, we’ll take it.

In the photo, which was shot by THE Terry Richardson, the ladies aren’t the only ones serving up high fashion. The Maybach Music Group MC brought his A-game to the editorial shoot, rocking a leather Balmain jacket, a neck heavy with gold, and a hat from his very own Wrking Title line. Recently, the "wrapper" posted a snap of the feature to Instagram saying, “Youngin Doin it Big!! Harpers Bazaar with my ladies @barrefaeli and the LEGENDARY @DVF new #balmain leather #wrkingtitle doin numbers. Thanks for yall support." Diane von Furstenberg also took to Instagram a few weeks ago hinting at her latest project by posting the above rare selfie alongside Wale with the caption “Two wrappers! @Wale and yours truly Diane.”
