Katy Perry Is January Cover Girl For ‘Marie Claire’

Katy Perry continues her grunge-gone-light phase on the cover of Marie Claire, wearing a lilac leather jacket, matching skirt, and safety-pin necklace. Her hair is, if you haven’t noticed, very black these days. It matches her crop top and smoky eye and is mussed to perfection.

With the exception of her Prismatic performance outfits, which have Katy swaddled in every color at once, KP has been dressing primarily in darker shades (black, bordeaux, black, navy, did we say black?) since starting press for Prism. Maybe she’s in mourning for her “California Gurls” alter ego? Or maybe she just likes black? On this cover, though, she’s styled in pastels (kinda springy for a January cover, amirite?), and we’re reminded of a time not long ago when all she wore were bright colors. Even on her head.

Inside the magazine, Katy wears a more “Roar”-appropriate dress from Rodarte’s Spring/Summer 2014 collection. A metallic tiger-stripe top and zebra-print skirt combine two of Katy’s fave animal prints in one look. In the feature, Katy reveals she splurges on Chanel (OMG, same! [JK, I wish!]), so hey, Karl, maybe hook a lady up with a campaign? You already know she looks good in your stuff.

The full issue will hit newsstands on December 17th, but you can check out Katy’s entire interview on Marie Claire’s website.
