After hearing nary a peep about Lana Del Rey for months, she’s popped back into our lives big time in the past few days. First, of course, was her role in the Kimye engagement: Kanye hired a 50-piece orchestra to play her song, “Young and Beautiful” as the soundtrack to the proposal. Then, she crops up on NYLON’s November cover with insanely shiny, deep auburn hair (it’s not that far of a cry from her dark brown hair the last time we saw her, on the Tropico poster, but it’s noticeably lighter). Where ya been, LDR? It doesn’t really matter, TBH, we’re just happy to have you back.

On the cover, Lana wears a Calvin Klein denim shirt, a black bustier from Nasty Gal, and a DKNY skirt. She may be laying low, but she can still bring it when it comes to magazine covers: she has, after all, had ample experience. Gone is her signature cat eye; in its place a some subtle pink eyeliner and mascara.

In the past, LDR could be counted on to bring her retro glam and style to performances, music videos, and magazine spreads, but inside NYLON, she’s refreshingly simple and modern. The spread features Lana in a slew of dark coats, including a long Louis Vuitton number and a furry one from Marc by Marc Jacobs. The spread accurately captures what winter style feels like: just jackets. Sure, you wear clothes underneath them, but jackets are at the forefront of your winter wardrobe. Good thing LDR is here to show off different options!

In addition to wool and fur, Lana tries on a studded leather jacket from Schott NYC and, as we saw on the cover, denim from Calvin Klein. Denim is def not warm enough for winter, y’all, especially not with only a crop top on underneath! Lana’s fingers, though, are probably plenty warm with the two Pamela Love rings she has on next to one another. Forget gloves, she has precious metals to keep her Starbucks Drake Hands from freezing.

The issue will hit newsstands on October 29th, but in the meantime, you can hit up NYLON’s website for a sneak peek of the article, including outtakes from the photoshoot.
