No, your eyes aren’t deceiving you: that is Rihanna with her short-lived curly ’do on the cover of Glamour’s November issue! This haircut existed for a fleeting moment (OK, a few days) in early August, right before she made the switch to her current steelo: the mullet.

The cover is simple: a smoldering, smokey-eyed Rihanna, gold hoops, and a teeny-tiny collarbone tattoo. She’s in a long-sleeved Dior bodysuit, but none of that even matters, TBH, because we can’t stop looking at that hair. It’ so curly! It’s so full! It’s so well-maintained! We don’t spot a single fly-away. #HERO

For the spread, Glamour decked Rih out in monochrome looks and got her to spill on her fashion icon(s). Here she’s in Marc Jacobs, including a jacket AND a bra? Always changing up her fave looks, that Rihanna. She also has on a multi-layered string of Chanel pearls, like those she wore to the Chanel Paris Haute Couture show in July. She explains that she joined her new show, Styled to Rock, because she’s “obsessed with being first with everything in fashion.” See? She’s totally trying to make jackets with no shirts on underneath ~happen~. With Nicki Minaj also rockin’ the look, it may already be happening.

Further in the spread, she wears a black-and-white houndstooth(ish)-print Chanel dress with (what else?) Chanel espadrilles. #CCcertified This look is definitely a little bit preppier than what we are used to on RiRi, but it kinda makes sense because, um, she cites Princess Diana as her style icon? Yeah, that Princess Diana. Of Wales. You know the one. Tiaras, suits, ballgowns: all of Rihanna’s typical swag, JK. Rih explains that she loves Diana’s oversized jackets and “crazy hats.” She even goes as far to say that she thinks she was “the best ever” and a “gangsta with her clothes.” Preeeetty sure the word gangsta has never been used to describe Princess Diana’s style before, but—hello!—we already know Rih wants to be the first in everything for fashion. Soon you won’t be able to hear the name Diana without thinking “how gangsta.”

The entire issue doesn’t come out for a week, which gives you ample time to consider which magazine will be FEARLESS enough to feature Rihanna’s mullet on its cover. If Glamour had time to capture the cropped curls in their brief existence (RIP), another magazine HAS to cover the mullet. It’s been here for well-over a month!
