Didn’t you just wanna pluck Carrie Underwood right off the vine when she waltzed onto the 2013 Emmys red carpet? Or better yet, lean back on a red velvet chaise lounge in a silk robe and have her fed to you by sturdy men with fans in Greek togas? Are these grape jokes getting weird yet? Maybe we’re just hungry. The American Idol alumna looked ripe for the pickin’ in her amethyst-colored Romona Keveza ball gown, which she paired with a simple black sash and a Y-drop diamond necklace. The Oklahoma-native definitely knows how to bring the deb ball to the step-and-repeat, y'all.
This year marked the 50th anniversary of two hugely significant events in television history: the announcement of President John F. Kennedy’s assassination and the night America met The Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show. Underwood, now a six-time Grammy winner born from a major television moment herself, was asked to perform for the occasion, singing an acoustic version of the Fab Four's “Yesterday” in touching tribute. She kept her blonde locks side-swept and brought back the black sash, but traded her diamond drop necklace for diamond and sapphire drop earrings. The singer stuck with jewel tones in a brilliant blue tinted gown with an asymmetrical neckline. Her stage look held a similar-shape as her red carpet number, but this time, she turned up the glam with a super-sparkly mic and some giant firework-flower hybrid explosions. Because I mean, we're celebrating, right?
