Asher Levine Talks Futuristic, Funeral Pop-Inspired Spring 2014 Collection [VIDEO]

Guys, we can never get enough of Asher Levine. We’ve been obsessed with the 25-year-old designer for the past few years (yep, he’s been killing it since he was 22!) thanks to his mostly black, all-leather-everything futuristic ensembles that have been spotted on everyone from Lady Gaga to Rita Ora. This season, we were PUMPED to stop by his spring 2014 show, which featured a performance by funeral pop band MXMS (members include Shiny Toy Guns’ Jeremy Dawson and Ariel Levitan). Asher stayed true to his dark roots and decked out his models in human anatomy-inspired pieces. Think: Molded, muscular silhouette vests and anatomical, spiky sleeved jackets. For the accessories, Asher said, “I wanted to imagine if we could grow the accessory in a laboratory, and then skin it. What would the accessory look like with it musculature underneath?” Our answer: awesome.

During the fashion show funeral procession, Ariel arose from a coffin before singing their single “omg” in an intricate hooded corset number created by Asher himself. (Duh.) Some of our favorite pieces from the collection included a GORGEOUS vintage-inspired motorcycle jacket and a transitional yellow trench coat. So, what’s next for the designer? More womenswear, it seems! He said, “I’m really enjoying the shape of the woman body, and I want to do more of that shape.” (YASSSS.) To get the full details AND to see his spring collection in action, be sure to watch the video above.
