Serious question: Do we love Peter Som’s Spring 2014 line, or do we LOVE Peter Som’s Spring 2014 line? I have never been more excited to mix prints in my LIFE, y’all. Solange, girl, you better watch your closet—I’m comin’ for ya! Obvi, we ball on a budget over here, so *fingers crossed* we’ll be snagging our Som from his newly-announced Kohl’s collab collection next year instead of fresh off the runway. But that’s OK! There ain’t no shame in the high-end accessible game. And even though I may never have the chance to personally strut my stuff at New York Fashion Week (I’m 5’3″ on a good day), I plan on making the sidewalk my catwalk when I fill my headphones with all the beachy-keen songs from Som’s show, courtesy of sound stylist Javier Peral. Javier was in charge of the soundtrack behind the big-city surfer-girl line and once again, he was kind enough to share the goods with all of us. Check out Peral’s perspective on the vibe of the collection and snag the full playlist from Peter Som’s Spring 2014 presentation after the jump!

“’City Beach Girls’ with a tomboy attitude, wearing pointy, laced-up flat shoes. The arty side to those girls were reflected with prints and color blocking and made me think of ’Do The Du’ by A Certain Ratio, which became the show opener and main track. Tropical flower prints brought the surf sounds of The Mermen and Dick Dale. Zammuto ’Need Some Sun’ was the last track of the show, with spot-on lyrics and the best bass line of the season.”

+ “Ocean Beach” – The Mermen
+ “Come Save Me” – Jagwar Ma
+ “Surfing Drums” – Dick Dale & the Del-Tones
