Rihanna is ready to rock.

Rihanna can now add “reality show producer” to her resume (a document which I’m not sure exists): her new show Styled to Rock will be hitting the Style Network on November 5th. Who better to discover the next big design talent than the rockstar herself? Oh, how about Pharrell Williams, model Erin Wasson, and Ri’s stylist, Mel Ottenberg? Yeah, they’ll def do.
The promos feature a stern-looking Rihanna introducing the show and its premise: 12 contestants are mentored by Pharrell, Erin, and Mel and seeking approval to design for big names. The Rihanna in the video is a Rihanna from a different time—three hairstyles ago—with long, blonde hair, a bright red lip color, and simple leather top. In the span of thirty seconds we are treated to three other memorable Rihanna looks: at the 2009 Met Gala in a Dolce & Gabbana tuxedo, in her 2011 “You Da One” Clockwork Orange inspired bowler hat, and in a Bryce d’Anice Aime spiky dress in 2009’s “Hard” music video. The promo video reminds us, “She reinvents her style every day,” which may be a bit of an exaggeration (she’s had that mullet for over a week now, guys), but Ri definitely does change it up more than the average pop star.
The show, which claims it’ll “reinvent fashion competitions,” has the twelve contestants designing duds for big-name celebs and a v. intense twist: halfway through the design process the mentors will evaluate if the work is good enough to present to the celebz, and if not, famous peeps won’t even lay eyes upon what’s already been completed. Way harsh. The overall winner will get $100 grand, a chance to join Rihanna’s design team, and a feature in Glamour Magazine. The better news (for us) is that the show gives us more time to stare at Pharrell’s never-aging face. And we will. We so will.
