Sheeeeee's BACK! Lady Gaga has been noticeably, achingly absent from the mass pop culture ethos for months (due to a painful case of synovitis which caused her to cancel remaining dates on her tour). Not entirely, of course. I mean, when someone says, "BRB," and wheels away in a 24-Karat gold wheelchair, you just KNOW she'll be back. And here she is, flaunting asymmetrical BLACK hair. Granted, we've seen her crop up here and there—peeking in at the Versus Versace x J.W. Anderson launch party, rallying for LGBT rights, and y'know, traipsing around Manhattan in just a bra—but multiple Gaga steelo updates in just the last 24 hours? THIS is what we've been missing.

As you probably already saw, Lady Gaga's first foray into editorial work post-surgery was this nudie pants spread for V which was released yesterday. Aside from the initial shock of her being naked, we couldn't stop studying that VOLUMINOUS bed of blonde ombre waves. We knew that had to be a wig (Gagaloo's been fond of those bad boys for years, and let's be honest, that hairline wasn't trying to fool anyone), but this snap of her short, choppy, dark locks looks like the real deal. Paired with what look like bleached eyebrows, this look is a very austere, but strikingly honest steez for Mother Monster. Or at least we think so. PLUS, she posted the photo with the caption, "ARTPOP as they pry the single from my bleeding fingers. its a scary thing to revisit those things underneath, the pain in your past. but all I found was raw passion. I thought I was destroyed inside. im just ready to fight. start the music." Does this mean a single might be coming sooner than August 19? And what clues does this very stripped down look (oh, and the fact the girl got her SEPTUM PIERCED, too) give to what Gaga has in store for us with ARTPOP?? We don't know, but we're on the edge of our seats, ready to find out!
