‘U Should Know Better’ Music Video: Unpacking Mini Robyn And Snoop Dogg’s Looks

Late last week, Robyn and Snoop Dogg released a music video for their extra-special duet “U Should Know Better” from Robyn’s 2010 Body Talk. We may have been bumping the track for the past three years, but that doesn’t make us any less excited for the new excuse to play it even louder (which is exactly what we did this past weekend). Now that we’re back in the office, we’re lending a more serious eye toward the video and its gender-bending concept. Robyn herself only makes one IRL cameo in the short, letting a mini boy-version of herself take center stage alongside Pernilla of 2faced1’s Lady Snoop. The likenesses of both are uncanny, due mostly to expert styling, so obviously we’re inclined to break down the fashion.

ALWAYS BE AROUND

The oversized jacket + skinny pants + platform shoes steez is a silhouette we’ve grown accustomed to on Robyn, but this silver Jeremy Scott jacket blends current Robyn with OG, just-burst-on-the-scene Robyn Carlsson circa her “Do You Know (What It Takes)” music video.

SHE-SNOOP

Pernilla makes for a beautiful She-Snoop, marrying his iconic casual athletic separates with feminine touches that still feel true to character like giant silver hoop earrings and a deep, rich burgundy lip.

Obviously girl has to wear the tracksuit in navy (one of Snoop’s IRL faves) with a heather grey hoodie, cornrows, and tending to her green.

MINI ROBYN’S ROOM

Little bb Robyn-boy has the most adorable room, stacked with props from the artist’s “Konichiwa B******” music video. Also, a Neneh Cherry poster. DOUBLE also, we’re trying to score that Am-Mainz sketched on sweatsuit ensemble for ourselves.

SHOWER CAP REALNESS

We’re pretty sure no proper homage to Snoop would be complete without a nod to his shower cap steelo. Suffice it to say, if one person can rock the nylon hair protector as hard as Snoop, it’s Lady Snoop.

SIGNATURE SHOE GAME

Pernilla pedals a small bike around a concrete lot with little Robyn on the back pegs, each character sporting their hallmark shoe game: slide-on shower sandals for Snoop (what can we say, the dude likes his hygiene-related accessories) and massive flatforms for Robyn.

This is what they look like IRL, in case you forgot.
