Beyonce Wore A Ton Of Gucci For ‘Chime For Change’ Charity Concert

When one of the founders of a charity initiative (for example, Chime For Change) is a renowned fashion designer (like Gucci’s Frida Giannini) and said organization puts together a gigantic concert (“The Sound of Change Live”) boasting a lineup of over 10 performing acts and even more celeb-studded guest appearances AND the legendary design house is footing the bill for the entire production, you can BET that just about everyone at that event will be wearing that founder’s designs. And that’s exactly what happened this weekend in London at Chime For Change’s star-spangled charity concert. What’s more, we’re preeeetty sure no one wore more Gucci than the concert headliner and fellow co-founder Beyonce. Before getting on stage, King Bey kicked off the event on the red carpet in a silver and beige sequined animal print mini shift with a kind of bateau neckline and long sleeves. Her hair was a lighter blonde than we’ve seen IRL in a while, swept to the side Veronica Lake style, and her lips were a glossy dark burgundy—very vampy.

Beyonce performed most of her set in this custom Gucci stage outfit: a black leather bodysuit with a sheer, long-sleeved overlay. It’s unclear whether it’s a kind of sheer crop top, worn over the bodysuit or sewn in as part of the entire pantsless look via the thick waistband. Either way, the sleeves are scrunched leading up to layered and sequin-speckled epaulets and the neckline is shirred in a very simliar way to the gathered necks of Giannini’s first Gucci collection for Autumn/Winter 2012. Bey finished off the look with the Stuart Weitzman booties she’s been wearing on tour.

We don’t yet have confirmation that the teal, patterned, high fashion leotard Beyonce wore for her “Grown Woman” performance was Gucci, but given the circumstances and that the splayed out feather detailing at the shoulders and hips distinctly remind us of Giannini’s gothic bird of paradise Autumn/Winter 2013 collection. The same educated guess can be applied to the equally uncertain origin of the sparkling long-sleeve gown Bey wore for her performance of “Halo” (with a little bit of “I Will Always Love You“). Regardless, the woman looked and sounded amazing, all while raising awareness and garnering funds and action toward the global empowerment of girls and women so we can further, you know, run the world.
