Caroline Hjelt And Aino Jawo Of Icona Pop Are Rising Style Stars

World, meet the ladies responsible for one of THE biggest bangers of the entire summer. Yes, we're talking about Icona Pop, otherwise known as the Swedish music duo who've planted themselves firmly in the middle of the dance floor with their so-catchy-it-hurts single "I Love It" (which you might also recognize as the theme song of Snooki and JWOWW!).

Comprised of Caroline Hjelt and Aino Jawo, the pair's been churning out electro-pop tracks since 2009, and thanks to an upcoming U.S. tour, *that* certified platinum single, and a jawdropping performance at this weekend's Billboard Music Awards, they've officially made the jump stateside. But because we're all about the fashion in these parts, it's long overdue that we also call these '90s babes out for their impressive personal styles. Somehow managing to complement each other without becoming overly matchy-matchy, (hey, not everybody wants to be One Direction!), they continue to kill it time and again.

Onstage and off you can expect to find Caroline and Aino in coordinating monochrome pieces in a stark— and very Swedish-seeming— color palette of blacks, whites, and grays. It might sound boring, but one look at their ensembles proves that the twosome's distinct look is ANYTHING but ordinary. Favoring clean lines and minimalist separates from designers such as 3.1 Phillip Lim, Helmut Lang, and Alexander Wang, they mix things up with tougher touches like Doc Martens and motorcycle jackets. They're old pros at the New York Fashion Week game, as well, hitting up shows the past couple of seasons and performing at industry events like the AllSaints party and Helmut Lang Fashion's Night Out bash. Given their undeniable cool factor, it's not that surprising that whispers of an Icona Pop clothing collab have been circulating around the style scene for months. But before they start dabbling in fashion, the girls say they've got other plans— namely, planting their infectious pop sound into everyone's eardrums. And judging from their irresistible debut album and their rising star power, Icona Pop is already halfway there.
