No matter what the occasion, no matter what time of year, we can ALWAYS count on Rita Ora to turn it out on the red carpet in full fashion glory. And tonight’s Met Gala was no different, with the singer's feet firmly planted on the pretty side of the punk scale in a shimmery Thakoon dress. The all-white custom-designed number came adorned with glistening stripes and baring just a sliver of stomach (um, not to mention, a sky-high slit!), making Rita one of the few stars tonight who took a lighter approach to punk. While many attendees have been known to change up their outfit choices up to the very last second at events like these, this pop star knew what she wanted weeks ago… and stuck with that vision. According to her stylist Jason Rembert, “The look was set for a month and a half. Thakoon sent over a sketch that Rita and I fell in love with,” he explained over email. “[It] was great to have a more classic approach to the punk theme.”
Oh, and Rita's amazing dress wasn't the ONLY custom-crafted piece for the occasion. Rembert notes that footwear master Nicholas Kirkwood also made a pair of heels to complement the Thakoon gown. "He custom-designed a shoe from his Fall 13 collection," he says. "The subtle approach was a win for the entire look." No kidding! Rembert topped it ALL off with Cartier rings, decking Rita out in four different (but equally gorgeous) ring designs and making the entire ensemble complete. Jealous yet?!
