Guess who’s taking these celebs to the 2013 Met Gala?!

Considering the time of year, the prep work, and the formality of it all, it’s not really that surprising that people refer to the annual Costume Institute Gala at The Metropolitan Museum as the fashion world’s version of prom. While both events have a theme (we hear this year’s, “Punk: Chaos to Couture,” is, uh, causing attendees some wardrobe struggles), let’s be real— the high concentration of really talented, really famous, and really good looking people walking those Met steps on Monday night ensures that you won’t get THIS party confused with your average school dance. We already told you about how you can get in on the action from home, whether it’s buying “Chaos and Couture”-inspired clothing or splurging on the celebs’ dresses themselves, but what we really want to know is, who’s taking who?! There might not be adorable promposals this time around, but many of the designers HAVE picked their celebrity dates for the night. Not surprisingly, Dior is bringing the brand’s new face and recently crowned Academy Award winner Jennifer Lawrence to the fete.
We’re used to seeing the actress turn it out in Dior on the red carpet, but not since her major hair cut. So obviously, we can’t wait to see what she whips out next week. In another case of “duh” pairings, Kenzo creative directors Humberto Leon and Carol Lim will be taking Solange, who we can ONLY hope will shake things up a bit in those print-tastic creations. Um, punk-inspired patterned pantsuits? Who knows, it just might happen! Rodarte sisters Kate and Laura Mulleavy are spending their night with another sister duo, Elle and Dakota Fanning, who rock the California label’s whimsical creations on the regular. However, considering Elle and Dakota’s vastly different red carpet steez, it’ll be interesting to watch both girls put their own stamps on Rodarte’s whimsical ensembles. Finally, in arguably the most unexpected Met Gala coupling, there’s PSY and Samsung. Yep, it’s random. And while we’re not sure how PSY is going to “punk” up his trademark glitter suits, you’d better bet he’s going to try…and we’ll be watching.
