Ohhhhh SNAP. It feels like ages since we’ve been graced with a new, aesthetically dazzling music video from Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, but never fear, Sharkface Gang. The wait is OVER! The Seattle-based duo just dropped their “Can’t Hold Usmusic video (honestly, more like short film, but you’ll see for yourself in a minute) featuring the golden-throated and forever-smiling Ray Dalton, and y’all it is STUNNING. Shot on six different continents with a slew of unlikely cameos (a camel, for one), this is a definite production. Accordingly, Mack, Lewis, and Dalton all undergo several ensemble quick-changes, which means it’s time for us to break the vid down look by look!

Whatchu know about wearing a wolf on your noggin?” Well, not as much as Macklemore, apparently, as the dude opens this thing decked out head to toe in the plushy stuff.

CAPTAIN MACK

Aside from the knee-jerk “I’m On A Boat” references this image evokes, Captain Mack is looking fly in black and blue Nike kicks (the same as onstage at the 2013 MTV Movie Awards perhaps?), a tough leather jacket, black trousers, and a grip of layers.

BAND LEADER STEEZ

This may have been where Macklemore’s newfound lover for band leader steez (or is it “modern matador“?) began. The MC spits a verse in tropical sands in an evergreen marching band duster, skinny black pants, a white tunic shirt, and a mustard-colored scarf printed with the most subtle animal print. He also twiddles his fingers at the camera, showing off a full hand of gold and jade rings. There’s something very “Jack Sparrow” and “pirate’s booty” about it all. Especially when he does it again on the ship.

See what I mean?

BUSINESS CASUAL AND CAMELS

Back on inhabited land, Macklemore leads a camel (from where? IDK) around town in a slick gray suit with a skinny lapel. He styles it with an all-over printed crewneck t-shirt, a few short gold chains, and an excellent pair of tasseled loafers.

PALM TREES AND ACCENT PANELS

In comes Ray Dalton with the throat of an angel that listens exclusively to gospel and John Legend. He’s also wearing a lightweight button-up shirt with printed, mixed media panels at the bottom, and it goes SO WELL with the bright blue sky and vivid green palms in the background.

WATCH FOR HANDS

Ryan Lewis jumps OUT OF A BUILDING onto a bed of fans. This is the outfit for his stunt. Take note of the full coverage despite what looks like extreme sun. Gotta cover all your business up before you dive into a sea of hands.

SUN’S OUT, GUNS OUT

Don’t worry, though. He takes the black tee off from under that sleeveless gray hoodie. It further reminds us that moshing and having strangers’ hands in your armpits to hold you up are not a happy match. *shudders*

MOBILE SUITING

Not only is this one of our favorite sets of the video—this kind of ’70s era living room set up on a trailer and hooked up to the back of a pickup truck—but it’s ALSO one of our favorite outfits. We like the white blazer with black pants and tying it all together with a patterned button-up. Well played, my dude.

BEACHFRONT BARBER

Macklemore assumes a long-haired alter ego with shiny flaxen tresses and takes to Dalton’s dome for a beachfront haircut. Be sure not to miss out on Mack’s outfit because you were distracted by the wig. It consists of SKINTIGHT pants and a decorative draped shoulder scarf in a distinctly (though we’re sure unintentionally) McDonald’s colorway (red and yellow).

BECAUSE COAT TAILS

After his shape-up, Ray rips off the black smock to reveal THIS exquisite set of vestments. HELLO, white coat tails, bright cerulean shirt, and brick red belt! WOWZA.

DO I SPY A DROP-CROTCH?

Blink and you might miss the (maybe) drop-crotch situation that happens here when Macklemore twirls in front of a beach boulder in a sun-faded camo jacket.

SHARKFACE SWAGGER

Also, you barely get any shots of this number, but we NEED to give this custom Sharkface Gang bomber jacket its proper respect. This thing has leather sleeves, an ornate applique “Sharkface Gang” + the Sharkface girl situation on the back, and “Seattle” in all caps baseball font on the right arm. TOO GOOD. NEED IN MY LIFE.

PARACHUTE POMPADOUR

Macklemore closes out the video, hoisting the black and white “The Heist” flag on top of Seattle’s iconic Space Needle, and while, sure, his parachuting ensemble is notable, we show you this still to highlight the fact that dude’s signature pompadour hair steez is still intact post-helmet. Granted, he was probably using a stunt double for the actual sky dive (however, we don’t know that for a fact, so please feel free to prove us wrong), but STILL. Look at it. We can all agree that’s good hair, people. Peep the video for yourself below!
