Emma Watson Receives MTV Trailblazer Award: See Her Most Trailblazing Outfits

There are about a zillion and one reasons to love Emma Watson, but we’ve just found another: the British actress has received the 2013 MTV Trailblazer Award! Although the actual MTV Movie Awards ceremony itself isn’t until April 14, Emma’s ahead of the game, nabbing the Golden Popcorn bestowed upon the star with the most diverse performances. Just like last year’s recipient Emma Stone, Emma’s proven her chops with wide-ranging roles, like high school dream girl Sam in The Perks of Being a Wallflower, wardrobe assistant Lucy in My Week with Marilyn…and who could ever forget her breakout as Hermione Granger in Harry Potter? The 22-year-old has traveled lightyears away from her frizzy-haired, bushy-browed debut, and with a lead in Sofia Coppola’s forthcoming flick The Bling Ring, her star is still continuing to rise. Emma’s a total pro at the style game as well, rocking consistent red carpet hits and fronting campaigns for Burberry and Lancome. So to celebrate her newest honor, we’re rounding up some of her most trailblazing outfits!

Disclaimer: before we dive in, it should be noted that it was really hard to narrow down all of Emma Watson’s amazing ensembles into one neat and tidy list. But it had to be done, so here goes. Emma’s a complete master at the art of the short formal dress. After all, who really needs a ballgown to make a statement these days?! From that glittery gold Burberry dress she wore to the label’s runway show in 2009 to the Marchesa mini with encrusted sleeves at the 2011 MTV Movie Awards to the bow-embellished Valentino from a Lancome event, cocktail dresses have never looked so cool. Rather than rocking something predictable, she repped by emerging designer Brood in a white one-shouldered statement piece at a screening of Perks last year.

Whether it’s tie-dye, splashes of color, florals, or abstract shapes, this girl LOVES a mean print— and there’s really no better outfit to start with than her rad surf-inspired dress at last year’s Movie Awards. This tie-dye-ish mini is how Emma began her Brood streak and has proven loyal to the brand ever since. Emma’s worked similar styles in the past, ranging from a Peter Pilotto number at the VMAs to the Erdem dress at the TIFF to the cut-out frock, also by Peter Pilotto, she wore recently to the People’s Choice Awards.

While Emma can do the short thing and the printed pieces like a pro, this is a girl who’s had PLENTY of practice with the floor-length gown…after tons of Harry Potter press circuits, she clearly knows what works for her. Emma hit the Met Ball with Burberry’s Christopher Bailey in a white dress (long before Angie’s right leg!). The actress later cemented her red carpet steez in a one-shouldered Valentino Couture creation at the 2011 BAFTAs, a gray Oscar de la Renta ruffled gown, and a Bottega Veneta strapless dress for Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 2 premieres in 2011. What will she wear for the 2013 MTV Movie Awards?! Place your bets in the comments!
