Rihanna performing during her Diamonds World Tour, and a face chart of her MAC makeup look.
You might remember when we had a veritable freak out over Rihanna's collaboration with MAC and her "RiRi Woo" lipstick (I mean, it's perfect). Well, we've been in a constant state of freak out ever since, what with her epic tour looks and the news that Rihanna for River Island will have a second season, but now we can put all of our excess energy to good use! Vogue got all the details on Ri's Diamonds tour look, which was conceived by MAC senior makeup artist Christopher Del Castillo, and highlights her "RiRi Woo" lip color. It's not a stretch for Rihanna to wear a red lip as the foundation for her tour look — Ri has become known for her impeccable crimson pout, and we love the idea that MAC built a whole look around her signature.
The philosophy behind the look was to make it both striking and easy to maintain. It's hard enough for us to keep our makeup fresh throughout the day, we can only imagine how difficult it must be to get a face of paint through a stadium show. Castillo told Vogue, "the eye make-up is beautiful but not high maintenance — we decided to use lashes as the focus rather than a heavy liner. We didn't want anything that would get smudged during costume changes." A strong brow, created using MAC's Deep Brunette Veluxe Brown Liner, a combination of two eye shadows (Copperplate and Print), the antique diamond paint pot, and some liquid liner form the base of the look, while not one but TWO sets of false lashes are the showstopper here. While we're not sure about the falsies for everyday wear, we're tempted to give Rihanna's tour beauty look a spin the next time we're getting ready for a night on the town.
