We asked people to show us their style in Austin, TX.
Think Texas is all cowboy boots, floral dresses, and leather fringe? Welp, think again. Sure, there's a fair amount of Western (and Southwestern — *cough* I'm looking at YOU, Macklemore) style inspiration sprawling all over The Lone Star State, but if there's anything we've learned from our week in Austin, it's that the town is teeming with eclectic style. We took to the streets last week, scouting for local style stars, bum rushing strangers for hours and asking them to talk about their outfits in front of a camera. Southern hospitality is a real thing, but the inhabitants of Austin are not only nice but fiercely stylish, as well.
The ladies of Austin are well-versed in the world of vintage togs, rarely wearing anything but second-hand threads. But with so much good vintage shopping in town, who can really blame them? Our girls' personal styles ranged from punchy, '80s-reminiscent dress to quippy, '70s era graphic tees, but don't go sleeping on the men of ATX. They're fashion killas, too, with one dude repping head-to-toe Trina Turk and another braving the dusty roads of Texas in '90s throwback Tetris-themed Puma Disc Blaze kicks. Check it all out in their own words in the video below!
