It's not just the Oscars ceremony itself that draws hoards of well-heeled starlets, ladies turn it out for the parties during and after the show, too. One of the biggest, most anticipated annual Oscar parties is Vanity Fair's which often boasts a stacked Young Hollywood guest list CHOCK full of shimmering, glittering, pretty young thangs. Last night's Vanity Fair Oscar Party was certainly no exception as a major trend for party-goers was dresses that shone and glinted in the light.

Selena Gomez stunned in her pale gold Atelier Versace gown — a body-skimming, bead-coverd bodice with irregular panels of embellished leather woven together into a modified corset over a flouncy, voluminous chiffon skirt situation. She finished off the look with Jimmy Choo heels, gorgeous statement jewelry (earrings and a cocktail ring) by Lorraine Schwartz, and a Judith Leiber clutch. Sel's Spring Breakers co-star Vanessa Hudgens also went for the gold but opted for a more heavy-metal look with a sleek column gown rendered in light-catching brass. Solange Knowles was Vanity Fair's musical guest of honor, hitting the stage for the viewing party, a vision in vibrant, sequin-laden goldenrod Emilio Pucci.

Cooler, darker colors also got the shimmer treatment for the Vanity Fair Oscar party by way of Ginnifer Goodwin and Lily Collins. Goodwin was a show-stopper in turquoise Monique Lhuillier encrusted with zillions of iridescent pailettes. Collins kept the sequin action isolated to her skirt in a few horizontal navy blue waist-defining bands and many longitudinal stripes running from there to the floor. The top of her couture Zuhair Murad gown was matching navy blue lace with long sleeves and a high crewneck, smattered with beadwork.

Representing for a different kind of shine, one of the fashion community's favorite teens, Hailee Steinfeld made a major statement in her predominantly leather Valentino gown. The dress featured a very demure, almost old-timey cut with an ivory embroidered bib front, a high neckline, and long sleeves, but the details — the rampant leather, the sheer sleeves, the slightest hint at black sweetheart underpinnings beneath that bib — take the cut from Laura Ingalls to total badassery.
