2013 Oscars Best Dresses: Jennifer Lawrence, Amanda Seyfried And More Top Our List

After a huge (and we mean HUGE) buildup, it seems almost weird to think that the 2013 Oscars are ...over. Crazy, right? But before we get all nostalgic and deal with our impending case of awards season hangover, we've got more important matters to deal with, like the DRESSES (duh). Considering the Academy Awards as an event is basically IT— like Hollywood prom— everyone upped their game in a big way tonight. From Quvenzhané Wallis and her puppy purse all the way to Jennifer Lawrence's stunning Dior gown, we've whittled down the star-studded red carpet into our 2013 Oscars Top Ten Best Dressed Ladies. So you ready for this?! Let's go!

Jennifer Lawrence

Paging Captain Obvious: it's been a loooong road to the Oscars for Jennifer Lawrence. But after countless interviews, award shows, and even a bout with pneumonia, the Best Actress WINNER (!!) chose THE perfect gown to culminate her Academy Award journey. Crafted by Christian Dior with a dramatic mermaid silhouette, an all-over leaf pattern, and a epic voluminous skirt, J.Law's dress fits her like haute couture glove. She's a superstar on so many levels here, and we can't ever get enough.

Anne Hathaway

With her easygoing elegance and close-cropped pixie cut, it's no wonder we get major Audrey Hepburn or Jane Seberg vibes when we look at Anne Hathaway. Especially tonight, when the Les Miserables stepped out in a pale pink Prada number that's somehow simultaneously a nod to the '90s and still totally fresh. Topped off with a Tiffany's bib necklace and a high-cut rear slit, Anne said it best on the red carpet: "Business in the front, party in the back." Wardrobe malfunction aside, this look is too good NOT to be included.

Amanda Seyfried

Whether she's working her shiny cascading waves with a strapless frock a la SAG Awards or sweeping her locks into a high bun (with a complementary high neck) for Critics' Choice, major props to Amanda Seyfried for using the 2013 awards season as her own personal style experiment. She almost always looks amazing, and tonight was no exception. Amanda stunned in a pale Alexander Mcqueen floor-length gown adorned with glittery establishments, proving that this girl's fashion game STILL keeps getting better. Who knows? The best might be yet to come.

 Quvenzhané Wallis

Quvenzhané Wallis turned up on the red carpet on the earlier side tonight, and boy, are we glad she did! Not only did the 9-year-old kick off the pre-show on a predictably adorable note (this is Q we're talking about here, y'all...) but she also gave us plenty of stuff to talk about all night long. Not only is the actress the first celebrity ever to wear Armani's kids collection on the red carpet, but she like always, she accessorized her midnight blue dress with her trademark puppy purse. The dog is named Sammy, and Quvenzhané even dressed it up in appropriate Oscars formal wear, too. AW!

In our world, Halle Berry can do no wrong. ESPECIALLY when the Oscar winner is looking so amazingly killer in her custom Versace frock. The futuristic cut is awesome enough on its own, but the metallic stripes and plunging v-neck really seal the deal. Hey, if you've got it, flaunt it...and Halle has most definitely got it.

We'll get to the dress in a second, but first we have to talk about Kristen Stewart's *ahem* very supportive accessories on tonight's red carpet—her crutches, of course! We're used to K.Stew wearing some unusual footwear on the red carpet, but we never expected to see her with one heel and a set of orthopedic crutches at the Oscars of all places. She picked an amazing dress to accessorize so uniquely though, and no amount of limping could upstage her blush colored Reem Acra gown, what with its cascading tulle inlays and flowing train. She kept her hair and makeup low key, with just a smokey eye and a natural lip (a trend throughout the red carpet), and her long red-brown hair loose and pushed to the side.

Holy statuesque Jennifer Hudson! The singer wore a royal blue, long sleeved Roberto Cavalli gown with a thigh high slit and all over metallic appliques, and was absolutely mesmerizing. Ok so maybe it's just the magpie in us but there was really something about this look that made it more than just another sparkly dress. Jennifer accessorized with a matching clamshell clutch and very little else, letting the dress and the hair stand on their own. We need to talk about that hair. Jennifer wore her incredibly long hair sleek and loose, with perfect blunt bangs and minimal makeup. Again with the natural lips! But red lips, or really any lip color at all, would have totally distracted from the beautiful jewel color of the dress, so we're not complaining.

Jessica Chastain at the 2013 Oscars.

Armani had a really major night tonight, not least for being the designer behind best actress nominee Jessica Chastain's red carpet look. The gold, strapless silk-satin gown calls to mind Oscar himself, but much more glamorous, we have to say. It fits Jessica perfectly, and the meticulously detailed hand beading it absolutely to die for. We want to just go over every inch of it with a microscope to soak in the craftsmanship. Jessica accessorized with Harry Winston jewels, but like many women on the carpet, kept her neck bare in order to let the drama of the dress really shine through. And look! Red lips! Adding an old Hollywood flair her super classic look, Jessica went against trend by wearing lots of color on her lips. We love it.

Charlize Theron at the 2013 Oscars.

This wasn't a big year for the peplum at the Oscars, which was pretty surprising given the fact that the silhouette has been a major trend in years past. Charlize Theron kept the peplum alive, however, in a pure white, architectural gown by Dior Haute Couture. Charlize is still growing out her hair from having buzzed it for her role in the Mad Max remake, and we have to say we love the pixie look on her. Is it just us, or do short cuts lend a lot of modernity, almost to the point of being futuristic, to almost any gown they're paired with? There's something so tough about this look, and we love it.

Amy Adams at the 2013 Oscars.

Talk about lovely. Amy Adams is defining what we think of when we think of Oscar style in her dove grey Oscar de la Renta gown. Strapless, with a fitted corset bodice and an enormous, feathery skirt with a long train, the gown is elegant but definitely not understated. There's so much going on with this dress, from the unusual color to the feather detailing on the bodice, we really want to reach out and touch it (sorry is that creepy?). Amy completed her look with a center-parted undo, simple makeup and diamond drop earrings, looking both totally Oscar-beautiful and also modern and youthful.
