Not like it’s news to anyone who’s ever seen or heard anything about him, but we just have to reiterate it: A$AP Rocky is one seriously fashionable dude. (Along with being a talented rapper, having a great ear for beats, and watching his premier album Long. Live. A$AP. debut at No. 1 on Billboard, of course.) The 24-year-old Harlem native doesn’t just rap about fashion killas, he is one. And it’s not just that he knows how to put together an outfit. What makes Rocky such a particularly devastating fashion one-two punch is the volatile combination of his keen eye for couture paired with straight-out-of-the-cradle streetwear savvy.

While Rocky has said on more than one occasion that he won’t be launching his own clothing line, he already has a history of collaborating with designers from the full range of the fashion spectrum, from Black Scale capsule collections to exclusive pieces with Raf Simons. Rocky’s mixture of high fashion and streetwear may seem strange at surface level, but when you contextualize it within his unexpected musical tastes and other artists he’s chosen to work with (for example Skrillex and Florence Welch), it all makes sense.

Rocky’s M.O. as a human is to draw inspiration from a variety of places and piece them together in a way that’s interesting to him (and hopefully everyone else). As he puts it, “I feel invincible, so I’m doing whatever the f*** I want this year.” It’s only natural that that mentality extends into his primary modes of self-expression: music and fashion. We got a chance to talk to the leading face of the A$AP movement about his history of collaborations, his eclectic personal style, and what exactly this RAF A$AP sweatshirt is all about. Check it out in the video below!
