Between pool toys and pet collars, Alexander Wang has made it clear that his designs shouldn’t be restricted to clothes (although he’s obviously owning THAT game, too). Just before Fashion Week, the New Yorker has revealed yet another unexpected project up his sleeve: a new partnership with Samsung. We got word this morning that Wang is teaming up with the mobile company NOT on a phone, but on a bag that’s inspired by images captured by Samsung’s Galaxy Note II model. He’s selected stylists, influencers, and friends to take photos with the device, the result of which will be used as a motif splashed across the designer carryall. The purse won’t be available to buy until this summer, but that’s OK— there are way more than enough fashion-tech creations to tide us over until then. Earlier this week, Rebecca Minkoff announced a new collection of glittery clutches that do double duty as speakers, which let’s be real, even NON-technophiles can appreciate.
After all, who can forget the cell phone print amazingness that floated down the runway this Spring at Suno or that keyboard dress from Jeremy Scott? Cushnie Et Ochos really took the concept to a new level when they debuted their very own smartphone last Fashion Week, and it’s only the beginning.
