Kelly Osbourne, Jessica Chastain, Claire Danes And More: How To Get Their SAG Awards Beauty Looks!

Last night were the SAG awards, an award show where actors come together to celebrate the year’s best movies. Wait a minute, isn’t that the Golden Globes? And the Oscars? So, what exactly ARE the SAG awards, because I really have no idea? I’d also like to point out that two nights ago were the Producer’s Guild Awards, an event even more mystifying than the SAG awards. Hollywood cannot get enough award shows! But that’s ok, it just gives us another excuse to watch attractive people in fancy clothing do those awkward presenting bits and give uncomfortable acceptance speeches. You know you love it.

And of course there’s the fashion. Below are some of my favorite beauty looks of the night, along with tutorials on how to achieve the defining piece of each look. Enjoy!

Resident Fashion Police co-host Kelly Osbourne looked stunning. I loved her full glam makeup, complete with perfect red lips and voluminous lashes, but I gotta say, my favorite thing about this girl is her hair. If you at home are thinking about sporting lavender locks, here’s an easy way to get them without a professional colorist.

1. Buy some violet hair dye, like Directions. You will notice this looks very dark, don’t worry!
2. In a tinting bowl mix a LOT of conditioner (doesn’t matter what kind) with just a DAB of the violet dye. Keep adding the violet dye until you have the desired color, you won’t need much.
3. Apply to hair and put on a shower cap. You will look really cool at this point.
4. Heat your hair with a blow dryer and wash dye out after about 35 mins.

A red carpet favorite, Jessica Chastain always looks great. Though I would have loved to seen a little more “fancy” in the hair, her makeup looks beautiful. That said, I totally appreciate her desire not to overpower this amazing McQueen dress with too much fuss in the hair and face. What sticks out to me here is Jessica’s beautiful eye shadow. To get a similar look I’d recommend the NARS Eyeshadow Duo in Bellissima.

1. First apply the sparkly light shade over the lid from lash line to crease.
2. Then, apply the shimmery dark shade to the crease and around the outer corners of the top lid.
3. Don’t forget lots of mascara to complete your beautiful Chastain-esque eyes!

This is hands down my favorite look for Claire Danes since we first started seeing her pop up on the red carpet three years ago. This lipstick choice is a big swing and I think it looks incredible on her, though I guarantee every man will disagree with me on this.

I’m glad she didn’t go with an “era” hairstyle which would have looked too costume-y with makeup. And THANK YOU Claire Danes for not wearing your hair in the 40’s deep part with waves that literally EVERY WOMAN WAS WEARING!! (Seriously? Did everyone’s hairstylist get together to plan this as a prank? If so, I salute you.)

To get Claire’s stellar lips, I recommend trying MAC Lipstick in Diva.

Amanda Seyfried at the 2013 Screen Actor’s Guild Awards in L.A. on Jan. 27.

Amanda Seyfried channeled Veronica Lake with her long blond hair in this incredible, hour-glass Zac Posen gown. As mentioned above, everyone was wearing deep side parts with coiffed waves a la the 1940s, yet there was something about Amanda that set her apart from the rest. Maybe it’s the sheer length of her hair, I don’t know, but she looks stunning. To get this Amanda-as-Veronica hair:

1. Make a deep side part.
2. Use a 1″ curing iron (or 1 1/4″ in your hair is super long) and curl your hair so all the curls are going in the same direction. Really curl it, like ringlet curls, none of these beachy waves everyone loves so much. OR you can set your hair in hot rollers, which I like to do. Again, make sure you are curling all the hair in the same direction.
3. Spray your hair with a flexible hairspray.
4. Take out your hot rollers if you used them.
5. Use a paddle brush and gently brush your hair until it starts to form a cohesive and even wave pattern throughout.
6. Finish with some strong hairspray.

Elisabeth Moss at the 2013 Screen Actor’s Guild Awards in L.A. on Jan. 27.

Elisabeth Moss’s eye makeup is really beautiful, especially the dark liner that fades flawlessly into the whites of her eyes. She tends to look a bit more natural, so it’s nice to see her trying something with more punch. Also, this woman’s hair color is constantly changing, who can keep up?? I do prefer her hair blond, and would LOVE to see this makeup look paired with light hair, so I’ll keep my fingers crossed for that in the future. To get Elisabeth’s killer eyeliner:

1. Apply MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack with a MAC #263 brush, as close to the top lashes as possible.
2. Then use a Q-tip to smudge the liner to give it a soft look. Really smudge it into the lashes well.
3. Then apply the liner to the inner rims of the top and bottom lashes. The inner rims are the part under the lashes on the top lid and above the lashes on the bottom lids. It might feel weird to put liner here but you’ll get used to it and if you use Blacktrack it won’t fade off.
4. Use a Q-Tip and smudge the liner into the lower lashes and slightly below them.
5. Close up any gaps between the lids, inner rims and lashes with the liner and VOILA.
