It's rare to find a print with the staying and smile-inducing power as polka dots, which is why the happy-go-lucky pattern continues to be a constant part of our everyday uniform. Regardless of weather, mood, or if we've been too lazy to do laundry (oops?), polka dot pieces are guaranteed to cheer up any outfit. Solange loves 'em. So does Gaga. The ultimate polka dot lover, Minnie Mouse, was even the "celebrity" muse during Fashion Week! EVERYONE is seeing spots these days, and our current obsession is flaunting them in minis, midis, and maxi-skirts. Need inspiration? Get the long and short of this adorable trend from our top style bloggers below!
Courtney of A Bevy Of
We don't even know where to begin in our long list of things we love about Courtney's vintage-inspired ensemble. The Detroit graphic designer proves that polka dots really do look good with everything, pairing her navy Urban Outfitters skirt with lots of layers- a velvet dress, a sequined dress, AND a dotty shirt. Typing each and every item out seems like a whole lotta colors and fabrics, but IRL? Couldn't be cuter. The 25-year-old tops off these various separates with complementary accessories like a waist-cinching belt, neutral gray tights, and vintage necklace. So go ahead, take cues from Courtney and pile it on!
Jessica RaeVirgin of Vintage Virgin
Speaking of piling it on, Jessica of Vintage Virgin also took a "more is more" approach to her candy-colored outfit. The blogger sported her black and white flippy skirt with an Art Deco print top adorned with swirls, strips, and yes, more spots. Thanks in part to her vintage Chanel purse, the result is a little bit like Solange's signature kooky mixed prints style meets designer runway, so obviously we're digging it. Everyone from Dries van Noten to Nanette Lepore rocked the loud and crazy look for Spring 2013, so it's not going anywhere. And yes, that's a VERY good thing.
Steffy Kuncman of Steffy's Pros and Cons
Whereas Courtney and Jessica took a eyepopping, daring approach to their polka dot skirts and mixed prints, Miami blogger Steffy proves that you don't have to go all out in order to pull off the look. The 25-year-old coupled her black and white Tea & Tulips midi with a nautical striped tee, white leather sandals, and hat. Oh, and psst- we spy a brown satchel! Did we call it or did we call it....? *pats self on back*
