Michelle Obama with President Barack Obama at the 2013 Inaugural Ball.
It was on this same night four years ago that Jason Wu went from a young designer to a household name, as the then brand new first lady Michelle Obama walked out in one of his dresses at the inaugural ball. He’s had a big couple of years, scoring a collab with Target and launching Miss Wu, but being selected to once again dress the FLOTUS on one of her biggest nights is nothing short of a coup for the designer. The custom made chiffon and velvet dress the first lady wore to dance with her husband to “Lets Stay Together,” sung by Jennifer Hudson, was nothing short of breathtaking, with a high, halter neckline and draped back. Choosing red, rather than her first inauguration’s bridal white was spectacular, and Obama looked fresh and fierce with her brand new bangs.
The first lady paired the dress with Jimmy Choo shoes and a Kimberley McDonald ring. Earlier in the day, she wore a Thom Browne coat and dress to the president’s swearing in, with her daugthers in J Crew and Kate Spade.
