Hannah wears thrifted dresses. Marnie goes for Jackie-O shifts. Hannah's messy. Marnie's painfully neat. Let's cut to the chase here, shall we? If you watch Girls, then you know that Lena Dunham and Allison Williamss characters are about as opposite as they come. It's these undeniable differences that drove them apart as roommates at the end of last season, and- spoiler alert!- are already coming into play in season two. But while all the onscreen drama's clearly fiction, the co-stars continue to work completely opposite looks on a pair of February covers (coincidence?). Lena takes a retro turn in stripped-down mod for Interview magazine, framed in a black and white portrait by Gregory Harris. With her pixie crop, accentuated lashes, and statement eyeliner, the muse for the shoot is obvious (here's a hint...).
Yep, it's '60s supermodel Twiggy! And believe it or not, Interview's not the first one to see the resemblance between the two doe-eyed stars. Keeping the styling chic and minimal in stripes, oversized outerwear and lots of black, this pared-down shoot really lets Lena's facial expressions steal the show— it's not the first time for that, either, but that doesn't make us like the concept any less.
While Lena's cover keeps things stark and dramatic, Allison Williams brings a MAJOR burst of color to her Company magazine cameo. The entire issue of the U.K.-based mag is dedicated to Girls' home base, Brooklyn, so Allison ups the style ante in mixed prints, bold makeup, and some serious neon accents. Think crazy print shorts and sunglasses by House of Holland, Reiss button-ups, and more. And while Marnie might not trade out her gallery girl pencil skirts and blouses for highlighter pumps anytime soon, this eyepopping cover definitely does the borough proud.
Lena or Allison: whose February cover do you like the best?
