We're deep into the throes of winter, y'all (womp), and have already rotated through our skinny jeans/oversized sweater uniform more times than ANYONE should. So what do you do when you can't bare to pull out the same thing yet again, even when it's bone-chillingly cold outside? Time to whip out the skirts! And while layering up with basic black tights is our easy go-to, these three bloggers have inspired us to go out on a limb- literally- with a kooky cool hosiery with a novelty twist. Henry Holland, Betsey Johnson, and Milly have all given us their own take on the trend, so now it's officially our turn. Because let's be real: when it's 10 degrees, gets dark at 3 pm, and the only thing you feel like doing is curling up with hot chocolate, we can ALL use an unexpected closet staple to help kick the winter SADs.
Annika of Pine Needle Collective
Wait, what era are we in again? Australian blogger Annika looks absolutely past-perfect in her vintage ensemble, from her maroon bowler hat all the way down to her black pumps. We love the quirky detailing on the outfit (see the adorable bows on her shoes?), which proves to be an ensemble staple that also translates nicely to her sheer polka dot tights. BRB while we go run to the neighborhood thrift store to copy the entire look....(shh, don't tell!)
Lea K. of Suburban Diaries
First of all, let's talk about how adorable Peruvian-born, Vancouver-bred Lea of Suburban Diaries looks in her cheery winter ensemble. If THIS rad outfit isn't enough to beat the wintertime blues, then we don't know what will. The student and blogger complements her vintage black coat and bag with funky abstract tights from Topshop. In other words, this girl is giving us all a key styling lesson in statement pieces- paired with simple touches, the legwear pretty much speaks for itself. And isn't that exactly what you want, anyway?
Van Anh L. of Chopstick Panorama
Blog: chopstickpanorama.blogspot.com. No roundup of novelty tights would be complete without a cameo by THE master of rad hosiery himself, Henry Holland. And there are few people who can pull off these statement-makers better than Van Anh from Chopstick Panorama. The 21-year-old Londoner works House of Holland's zig-zag pattern with some serious 'tude, pairing the tights with an oversize H&M blouse and Topshop boots. Cute, comfy, AND easy enough to give us an excuse to press "snooze" button on our alarms in the morning...
