There are a lot of things that we, the keyboard-tapping individuals behind MTV Style, are truly thankful for this year. Our families and friends and health and jobs and happiness are chief among them but are only the tip of the iceberg. We’re also grateful for a lot of things that probably will never make it to a Hallmark card. Like cat memes and cool ranch Doritos and our Karlie Kloss and Joan Smalls helmed House of Style reboot. With so much to be thankful for, it’s hard to boil it down to just ONE (somehow style-related) thing, but we tried. Check out just a few things we’re thanking our lucky stars for this Thanksgiving season after the jump!
Cara Delevingne’s Instagram: “This year, I’m thankful for Cara Delevingne’s Instagram, because where else would I be able to see a top model in a hot dog suit, an animal onesie OR behind-the-scenes amazingness with Rihanna, Azealia, or Terry Richardson? We already know she’s gorgeous on the runway, but she’s also got one of the biggest personalities in the biz. This, if you ask me, is MORE than enough reason to stalk her on Instagram (no shame).” – Liza Darwin
Sneaker Wedges: “Without objection, the sneaker wedge has been the clear “It” shoe of 2012 and with good reason. Sure, the kicks are cute and trendy and have been making waves since the ripples first started at Isabel Marant, but what makes sneaker wedges more than just a fad and something women swear by (myself included) is their ability to merge the leg-lengthening of heels and the comfort of sneakers into one shoe. They’re a podiatric saving grace for any girl who refuses to wear flats. They transcend seasons. They go with almost everything. PLUS, Beyonce loves them, and we all know everyone is a Beyonce fan.” – Gaby Wilson
Eddie Huang’s Fresh Off The Boat: As you read this, we like to imagine that Mary H.K. Choi is resting her typing fingers in a warm lavender bath while being palm-frond fanned by two bowler-wearing French bulldogs, but we know for certain (among innumerable other things), she’s thankful to be able to watch Eddie Huang’s Taiwan Fresh Off The Boat adventures now that she’s back home in New York after #rihannaplane.
Svpply: “OK, I know Svpply.com has been around awhile, but lately I’m discovering JUST how awesome it is — especially this time of year. If you were to search “cat sweater” on Google, you’d turn up with all KINDS of results (see: mostly not good ones), but that same search on Svpply shows cat sweaters that have been hand-picked and curated by a select group of people, meaning the results are UH-MAZING. It’s also the best place to find cool new stuff, make wish lists, and search other people’s lists, meaning, yep, you actually can get your friend something they want for Christmas. Svpply, you complete me. <3″ – Chrissy Mahlmeister
Black Liquid Eyeliner: “I’m thankful for black liquid eyeliner. Women have been rubbing kohl around their eyes since the beginning of time, and it never fails to pull a look together.” – Maud Deitch
C.O. Bigelow Mentha Ginger Mint Lip Tint: “There are a MILLION people/things/circumstances that I’m legit thankful for, but Gaby has been email-nudging me all day for a beauty-related tidbit to share. So, let’s dig in to my one, true addiction: C.O. Bigelow Ginger Mint Mentha Lip Tint. It’s a triple-threat lip gloss: it moisturizes, it provides a bit of gold shine AND serves as a breath freshener with its ginger/mint flavor. Plus, it looks good on its own or over almost any color of lipstick. You know when you’re rooting around in your purse and your hand finally lands on the object of your search and you feel instant relief? That’s me, with this gloss, all day long. I’m putting it on right now [pause] and once you get your hands on one of these tubes (or one of the other flavors) your lips will be thankful, too. *GOBBLE GOBBLE* everyone!” – Sophia Rai
