The bad news: Halloween has officially come and gone, which means it's time to stash away our creepy, cool, and totally pop culture-relevant costumes for yet another year. But the good news is, there's another reason to dress up just around the corner. Yep, Christmakwanzakah season is coming up fast, and two of our favorite brands are here to make sure we hop on the holiday train early. Urban Outfitters and MinkPink have teamed up on a lust-worthy new campaign, complete with an equally adorable video. So if you're planning on re-wearing that same old dress from Winter Formal, like, YEARS ago, think again. Check out five holiday style lessons we've learned from the new collab, and prepare to get seriously inspired this coming season.

.) Play with opposites: Sure, cropped tops might be a summer staple, but who says the abbreviated shirt can't get a cool-weather makeover? This season retailers (yes, Urban included) are rolling out versions in wintery materials like leather and velvet. Just don't forget to wear a jacket!

.) Plum lipstick is having a moment. Although it might seem daring, this dramatic hue works well on almost any skin tone. And a bonus: it's guaranteed to add an unexpected flash of dark glamour to ANY cocktail dress.

.) Baroque and roll! Cheesy, we know. However, baroque and other luxe prints have been popping up all over the place on the runways last season, and the gold motifs and rivet detailing are a decidedly glam twist on basic holiday dressing.

.) Take cues from Margo Tenenbaum. You don't have to tell us twice that the broody, bobbed, kohl-eyed daughter of the crazy Royal Tenenbaum family is a fashion icon. But for winter, we're ESPECIALLY coveting her oversized statement-making fur coat, and there are plenty of faux options that are just as cozy and chic. After all, it's one of the few times where having a fake is a good thing.

.) When it doubt, go glitter. Sparkles, sequins, bangles, WHATEVER. It's the holiday season, ya'll, so why not shine?! And it doesn't have to be in skintight minidress form, either. From shimmery trousers to glitzy blouses, are there plenty of new ways to work it.
