Prabal Gurung’s Target collection is floral and feminine.
Here’s the thing about designer capsule collections: you have to be committed. At this point, it’s a given that if you want to pay retail for items sold in one of Target (or H&M’s) designer collaborations, you’re either going to have lightning fast internet and a whip-quick clicking finger, or be willing to brave insane shoppers and even more insane lines at a retail location. Otherwise, you’ll quickly find that the items you’ve been lusting after since the collab images were released are going for 10 times their original price on Ebay. There are some collections that are just too good to be ignored, though, and Prabal Gurung for Target is one of them. The designer, who has been called “this generations Oscar De La Renta” and has created jaw dropping red carpet looks for the likes of Jennifer Lawrence, awesome nail strips with Sally Hansen, not to mention consistently cutting edge runway collections year in and year out. His collection, which is inspired by “a girl’s journey through the different stages of love and the clothes she wears during each milestone—from the first date to meeting the parents to the engagement,” Gurung told Target for their official press release, and pieces are priced from $12.99 to $199.99. It will be in stores February 9th.
In the first image from the collection, the girly, romantic spirit is totally apparent. It can be described with just one word: FLORALS. Technicolor, photo realistic florals adorn a crew neck, long-sleeved top and a pair of shirt, filmy shorts. Either piece would look great on its own, paired with basics that every girl already has in her closet, but together the look is really next level.
