It’s not often that Kristen Stewart gives an interview that revolves purely around fashion and beauty— so rare, in fact, that we had to drop everything else were doing yesterday afternoon to watch the actress’s Balenciaga interview go down as it was happening. And it’s a good thing we did, because the 15-minute livestream Q&A was basically a crash course in Kristen’s Florabotanica history….not to mention, covering everything from her favorite black leather jacket, that French je ne sais quoi, and how she relates to Alice in Wonderland. She MAY not have been able to fill the entire 30-minute time slot (girl gets to her point fast), but the spokesmodel for the fashion house’s new fragrance covered a TON of territory in a short timespan. We’ve got your K.Stew interview Sparknotes below, so let’s review!
.) Kristen Stewart and Balenciaga’s collaboration has been in the works for a while: I met him [Balenciaga’s Nicolas Ghesquiere] on a photoshoot when I was 14 or 15, so I feel like it started ages ago. We had heard about possibly doing something with him and before we even knew what it was or what it would involve, we were like, ’yes!’ ”
.) She actually likes the Florabotanica smell. ” “Luckily I like the smell of the fragrance, and I don’t have to lie about that, so that’s great.”
.) She feels different when she wears the scent. “I think it probably puts me in a step up, it steps up your game a bit. It’s curious, it’s like, ’Wow, what is that?’ It’s sort of warm, hot…it’s not too sweet, it’s natural. “
.) She really doesn’t think about what she wears…unless she’s traveling “”I live in L.A. and unless the occasion calls for it, I’m really simplistic, comfort, and very straightforward dress; I don’t think about it. When I go anywhere outside of L.A.- New York, Paris, anywhere- I’m like, ’Oh, I forgot to put socks on, and that probably looks silly!’
.) Even as a fragrance spokesperson, she likes to smell like she’s not wearing tons of perfume: “I think it’s alluring and I think it’s bold and I think it’s present and I think it’s natural, which is really important. It doesn’t smell like a chemical, which is so important to me. I think it’s young and mature at the same time.”
