Take note, public. Thanks to the one-two punch of Dolce & Gabbana and Jeremy Scott, burlap potato sacks have now graced the Fashion Week runways for two years in a row. That means we officially need to get one (or two or infinity) into our closets STAT. I know what you’re about to say: “You mean you’re not already wearing burlap potato sacks on the daily? *hair flip*” Well, pump the brakes on the judgement train for just one hot second because maybe we have sensitive skin and thus maybe wanted to feel this trend out before diving in head first! *catches breath from defensive hyperventilating*
The fluid, metallic potato sack from Jeremy Scott’s “farmer chic” Spring 2012 collection was 100% love at first sight for us, but you know as well as us that one exemplary masterpiece does not a trend make. Now that Dolce & Gabbana has shown more than a few options in their Spring 2013 collection this Milan Fashion Week, the vegetable tote look has fully grasped our attention. It’s just a question now of which version we prefer and who’s going to come out with their own next!
Jeremy’s may be the last one we’ve seen in recent days, but perhaps his glitzy spud señorita only jogged the design memory of Italian powerhouse Dolce & Gabbana. Rewind the runway tapes back to good ol’ 1992, and you’ll start to wonder (like we are now!) whether these latest Sicilia sacks miiiiiight just be a re-up of the ones our beloved SUPERS Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell and Linda Evangelista debuted at the Dolce & Gabbana Spring 1992 runway show*. DISCUSS!
*No, really. Click that link. You’ll be glad you did.
