There’s nothing like summer camp as a kid (I mean, the LiLo Parent Trap remake? Salute Your Shorts? Pick your poison), so we could hardly hold back our giddiness walking through Rachel Antonoff’s Spring 2013 New York Fashion Week presentation. Amid a winding path of astroturf and hedges, models played badminton, caught pretend butterflies, and lounged with picnic baskets in the designer’s collection of striped seersucker skirts, pleated shorts and breezy blouses. Transluscent oxfords and sandals, patterned visors and white, geometric nails completed the looks, all of which could head straight for the country club.
And we weren’t the only ones in on the recreational activities. Young Hollywood starlet Hailee Steinfeld posed for pictures near the park bench and fountain, wearing a glam black dress with sparkling shoulders. Lena Dunham showed up with a short new ’do, rocking an “I’m With Her” sweatshirt and supporting her rumored beau — and the designer’s brother — Jack Antonoff. Along with showing some sibling love, the Fun. guitarist curated the eclectic playlist, with tunes ranging from Fiona Apple to Chiddy Bang and Kanye West. On our way out we had to stop at the picnic tables for a quick snack, noshing on sliced PB&J sandwiches (still as good as when Mom made it) and pink lemonade.
