Here at MTV Style, we know that the sudden appearance of cats in the fashion world is NOT breaking news. Dog-lovers out there might still contest that cats are just fluffy home fixtures, lacking in personality what they make up for in laziness. But guys, cats are EVERYWHERE, so we’ve dedicated the first weekly installment of Trending Topics to our favorite iterations of the kitty-craze. Here we go!

We Want These Drawings To Be Real Clothes!

Hannah Metz, please hear us loud and clear: we love everything about this drawing. The femininity of these sketch sisters is just modest enough to let the loudness of the amazinggg CAT SWEATERS steal our focus. We’re digging the way this photographer/stylist reimagines the “cat lady” with a touch of retro glam. Plus, there’s even more where this came from on Hannah’s Tumblr. The only question is, how do we get our hands on the real thing? What’s a girl gotta do? {via Hannah Metz's Tumblr}

Choupette Celebrates Her First Birthday

In a post dedicated to our fluffy friends, we would be remiss to overlook fashion’s MOST fabulously fostered feline and Karl Lagerfeld’s muse, Choupette. Earlier this week, we wished a happy first birthday to the style set's cat du jour! While Choupette opted for jumbo shrimp over traditional birthday cake, her perfectly brushed coiffure was no less dainty or chic than we’d ever expect. What could possibly make this celebration more delightful, you ask? Oh, excusez-moi, THIS: Choupette shares a birthday with THE Coco Chanel. *brushes shoulders off* NBD. {via Karl Lagerfeld's Twitter}

“Pumpkin” Is The New Face of Balenciaga

Friends, make way for Pumpkin, VOGUE Creative Director Grace Coddington’s calico Persian! Sure, Choupette’s got two personal maids and a sorely impressive Twitter following, but Pumpkin is the inspiration behind Coddington’s limited-edition accessory line collaboration with Balenciaga, set to launch on Fashion’s Night Out. Take special note of the tote bag, which features Coddington’s sketches of Pumpkin in various Nicolas Ghesquière looks from the last decade. Far be it from us to argue, but a CAT wearing Balenciaga? While we can’t HELP but begrudge such good fortune (AKA we are #jealous), this fabulous cat is also benevolent. Twenty percent of the proceeds from the line will go toward The Animal Rescue Fund of The Hamptons. {via Refinery 29}

Lea’s Cat Ears for NYLON

Our favorite Glee diva gets cozy for the NYLON September Issue cover as she dons, ever so naturally, CAT EARS! The accessory is so natural that we had to do a teensy double-take, but the ASOS metalwork headband, finished with a gold-tone and diamante embellishment, sits perfectly nestled atop Lea Michele's tousled ombre hair. Plus, the spread, which features equally frisky (*ba dum TSH!*) school-girl-inspired outfits (she DOES play Rachel Berry, after all!) delivers the perfect touch of sartorial seduction. {via NYLON}

Alexa Chung’s Favorite Flats

Alexa Chung is a busy girl. From the announcement of her forthcoming clothing line, to her much anticipated cameo on Gossip Girl, we have our eyes fastened to this style icon. While on the set of GG, Alexa shelved her go-to tomboy style for a whimsical, flirtatious floral playsuit. I know, I know. You’re thinking, “But I came here for the CATS!” Never fear, Stylettes, Alexa was not without her favorite black Charlotte Olympia kitty flats. And yes, we STILL wish we could afford them. {via My Fashion Life}
