It’s official: the world can’t get enough of Lana Del Rey. And for good reason, considering the sultry New York singer’s working the total package- her signature smoky voice, retro good looks, and seriously covetable street style (winged eyeliner and sky-high bouffant included). She’s already rocked the fashion circles with a namesake Mulberry bag, more magazine covers than we can keep up with, and a brand-new H&M campaign. Now she’s fronting another brand, but it’s definitely NOT what you’d expect. Just this morning it was announced that the musician is the newest face of Jaguar- yep, the car company.
She’s been picked to launch the campaign for the F-Type model, which will officially debut next month in Paris with print ads and national commercials. Hm…interesting. According to the company, “The allure of Jaguar is in large part due to its duality – a unique blend of authenticity and modernity, two values that we believe are shared with Lana in her professional achievements.” It might seem like an unexpected pairing, but come to think of it, the singer plants tons of car references in her music. She’s recorded a track titled “Driving in Cars With Boys,” gets hot and heavy in a car in “Born To Die,” AND even borrowed her name from the iconic ’80s Ford Del Rey car. So whatever the reason, the more Lana the better. We’re keeping our eyes peeled for her Jaguar ads, but until then, stay tuned- we have a feeling we’ll be seeing a lot of Lana during New York Fashion Week…
