If you ever get a chance to take a visit to the mystical and magical MTV Style headquarters, you'll find us swimming eyeballs deep in fashion mags. Maybe you're envisioning all of the clumsy papercuts a scene like that would yield, but just pump the brakes on The Judgement Train™ for a second because being in these close-quarters with glossies is something we really enjoy. And as long as magazines like Harper's Bazaar keep pumping out brain-pettingly beautiful spreads like this here cover shoot with Rihanna, we won't be reconsidering our paper-wading practices any time soon.

Alongside glittering images of Ri modelling gold Ralph Lauren electric pleats and a turtleneck Balmain mini so laden with embellishments it's probably as heavy as her right arm, the Barbadian beauty comments on the parallels between her music and fashion - citing them both as "rebellious." It's a term she extends to her tattoos and (currently Skrillex-channelling) hair as well, but not to much else. "I have been conservative in my love life," she tells Bazaar's Laura Brown, "It's pretty much nonexistent. If I come across someone who I find really cool, I'll hang out. But the minute I find that we’re getting too close I just—I don't let people in."

Permit us to get a liiiiittle psychoanalytical for a minute, but perhaps that's the origin point from whence this rebellious style stems. Could her willingness to shave half her head, wear knee-high python boots with a gold sequin Tom Ford jumpsuit or even that face-mask-esque Alexander Wang top be a kind of physical, man-repelling manifestation of her hesitation to get close to any one dude? Are we philosophizing a little too much for a Friday afternoon? Let us know what you think!
