Even if you're totally landlocked, have never stepped on a surf board in your life, and think that "Hang Ten" is a new type of nail art, it doesn't matter. It's time to step outside and soak up the sunshine! Summer is here, and with it a slew of surf-inspired duds. Emma Watson, Jaime King, and Miranda Kerr have all channeled Blue Crush and put their own chic spin on these beachy staples. While the trend may have history on the beach (not to mention, in Lindsay Lohan's new film), but now surfer gear has officially gone high fashion. It started a few seasons ago on the runways of Proenza Schouler and Rag and Bone, but now it's infiltrated the red carpet. who better to kick off the trend than Miss Watson, who rocked new designer BROOD to the MTV Movie Awards earlier this month? The Perks of Being a Wallflower star totally killed it on the red carpet in her peplum frock, splashed with a watercolor-esque marble print. We loved it SO much, we wrote an entire post dedicated to it, and it's worth a second shoutout.

Whereas Emma went body-hugging and short, Jaime King headed in the opposite direction with a knee-length flouncy Peter Pilotto number this week at a Persol event in New York. We love how her sleeveless top expands into an awesomely abstract blue-and-white printed skirt, proving that girly and sporty are definitely not mutually exclusive. Miranda Kerr wore another Peter Pilotto dress from his beach-inspired collection at a MOMA Gala. It's a stylish ode to the wetsuit, with zipper-detailed neckline and a pencil skirt silhouette. Covered with an amazing multi-colored motif that totally resembles fishtails, the supermodel is working a trend double-whammy: peplums AND surfer girl, in one outfit. Major multitasking on the red carpet? Totally genius.
